col-6pk-ivy-gol-var
Hedera helix 'Gold Variegated' (Ivy) – Evergreen Climber and Trailing Plant (12 Plants in 2 x 6-Cell Trays)

Gold Variegated ivy brings year-round colour to walls, fences, baskets and shady corners, with glossy green leaves edged in golden yellow. This is Hedera helix, also sold as English ivy or common ivy, and it is one of the easiest evergreen climbers to grow.

It is a vigorous, self-clinging plant that will climb walls, fences and trellises, or trail and spread as ground cover. It works equally well spilling from hanging baskets, containers and window boxes. The variegated foliage brightens shady spots, and the plant is fully hardy and happy in sun or shade, though the gold colouring is best kept in partial shade to partial sun. Mature plants carry small nectar-rich flowers in autumn, which are valuable to bees and other late-season pollinators, followed by black berries.

You receive 12 plants, growing in 2 trays of 6 cells, one plant to a cell. They are ready to plant out or grow on. Ivy likes moist, well-drained soil and tolerates most soil types once established, and it copes with dry spells once settled in. Water regularly at first.

Trim back in spring or summer to keep it in shape, and feed with a balanced general-purpose fertiliser in spring. Ivy is harmful to pets and people if eaten, and the berries are toxic. The sap can irritate skin, so wear gloves when pruning.

Cultural Information

Common Name: Gold Variegated Ivy, Common Ivy, English Ivy

Botanical Name: Hedera helix

Growth Habit: Vigorous, self-clinging climber and trailing ground cover

Perfect For: Walls, Fences, Trellises, Ground Cover, Hanging Baskets, Containers, Window Boxes, Shady Borders

Foliage: Evergreen, glossy lobed leaves, green with golden-yellow margins

Flowering Time: Autumn, on mature plants

Planting Position: Full sun to full shade

Soil Type: Moist, well-drained soil; tolerates most soil types once established

Hardiness: Fully hardy

Maintenance: Low, trim in spring or summer to keep in shape

Seasonal Interest: Year-round foliage, autumn flowers

Type: Hardy evergreen climber

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0646/2455/8300/files/1_930764aa-5276-4323-8c68-ad29ab5a2c94.png?v=1792007959
