Lockdown 2020. Everyone was stuck at home, prospects of a summer holiday were bleak, and instead people wanted to turn their gardens into somewhere worth being. But garden centres were closed and the plants inside were dying.
With more than 20 years of experience in the horticultural industry, the Verdant Living founding family started rescuing those plants and selling them online. What began as a hobby has grown into what Verdant Living is today - a small, family-run British nursery delivering garden-ready plants direct to customers across the UK.

We're a British grower, not a reseller. Our plants are grown peat-free at our own nursery. We've removed black plastic from our operation, we pack plastic-free, and we ship with UK couriers who understand live plants aren't ordinary parcels. Every decision - compost, packaging, partners - is weighed on its real-world impact, not its marketing value.
Tackling The Black Plastic Problem
Most black plastic plant pots never get recycled - infrared sorters at recycling plants can't detect the pigment, so they're landfilled by default. Millions of them every year.
Our founder spent years in the plastics industry and saw it first-hand. That experience shaped how we built Verdant Living: we've developed alternatives, including plant trays made from 100% recycled drinks bottles.

Every plant leaves our nursery packed fresh in FSC-certified, plastic-free packaging - fitted paper-pulp inserts that hold each plant steady without a scrap of plastic film. We ship next-day across the UK with couriers who handle live plants properly, and delivery is free on every order.
