The bedding geranium everybody knows, flowering without a break from late spring until the first frost.
Smokey Eye is the bicolour one, and this is the white form, each flower carrying a red eye at the centre above green leaves. It is a bushy bedding geranium, not one of the ivy leaved trailing series, so it fills a pot or sits at the centre of a basket rather than spilling over the edge.
Give it full sun and a free draining compost. Once it is established it copes with dry spells better than most summer bedding, and it stands up to wind and salt, so it works in a coastal garden as well as a town patio. Deadhead the spent heads and it keeps flowering.
It is not hardy. Frost kills it outright, so lift the plants and keep them frost free over winter, or start again with fresh plants in spring.
