A hardy English daisy with neat rosettes of deep green leaves and tightly petalled, daisy-like flowers in white from late winter through spring.

Bellis is a classic choice for reliable colour in the dullest months. Plants stay low, around 10 to 20cm tall and 15 to 25cm across, forming mounded rosettes that are soon covered in flowers. The main flowering runs from late winter to summer, and plants may flower again in autumn.

Use it at the front of a border, along the edge of a path, in patio pots, baskets and window boxes, or in a seasonal bed in a formal or informal scheme. It is fully hardy right across Britain and is normally planted in autumn to flower through spring, in full sun or partial shade. It is easy to grow and needs little attention beyond watering in dry spells. Because it is hardy it can go straight out in autumn and sit through the winter, so the display is under way before most spring bedding has started.

Supplied as three or six well-rooted, garden-ready plants in 10.5cm pots, grown peat-free at our Yorkshire nursery, so they settle quickly and give almost instant colour. This is the white selection.
