Euonymus 'Emerald Gold' – Variegated Evergreen Shrub (Set of 3 or 6)

Euonymus 'Emerald Gold' is a hardy evergreen shrub grown for neat, colourful foliage that holds its looks in every season.

The leaves stay on the plant right through the winter, so the structure and colour you plant in spring is still there in January. Here the leaves are green, edged with gold, on a low spreading plant. Growth is dense and takes clipping well, which is why euonymus is used so often for low hedging, edging, the front of a border, rockeries and pots. Variegated forms colour best with a few hours of sun and can throw out plain green shoots, so cut those out as you see them.

It will grow in full sun, partial shade or full shade, and it copes with exposed and seaside gardens as well as sheltered town ones. Any moist, well drained garden soil suits it. In time it makes 30 to 90cm tall and 30 to 120cm wide. Water regularly through the first season while the roots take hold, after which it asks for very little.

Each plant is supplied in a 1 litre peat free pot, raised at our Yorkshire nursery, well rooted and ready to plant straight into the garden or a container. For a low hedge, space plants about 20 to 30cm apart and trim lightly in spring or summer to keep the line sharp. Euonymus is poisonous to cats and dogs.
