Digitalis purpurea (White Foxglove) – Hardy Perennial (Set of 3 or 6)

This is the white form of the common foxglove, giving you tall, clean spires of freckled bells for early summer.

The upright spikes rise from a rosette of softly textured green leaves, and the white flowers show up beautifully at dusk and against a dark hedge or a shaded corner. They flower through June and July and are worked hard by bees.

Plant them in partial shade or sun in moist, well drained soil, along a woodland edge, through a perennial border or in an informal cottage scheme. As short lived perennials or biennials many will flower in their second year and then self seed, so a group left alone tends to keep itself going. Every part of a foxglove is highly poisonous, so choose where you plant it with care. Supplied as strong 1L plants rather than plugs, so they settle quickly.
