Nothing says cottage garden like a row of lupin spires, and the Legendary series gives them on sturdy, self supporting stems.
Densely packed spikes of vibrant red pea shaped flowers rise above lush, hand shaped foliage from late spring into summer, reaching approximately 50 to 60cm tall and 40 to 50cm across. The Legendary series was bred for a compact, sturdy habit, so the spikes stand up without staking, and bees and butterflies work them from the moment they open. They cut well for the house, and deadheading the faded spikes promptly often brings a second flush later in the season.
Supplied as well rooted plants in 1 litre pots, grown peat free at our Yorkshire nursery and ready to plant straight out into a border or a large container. Give them sun or light dappled shade and well drained, slightly acid to neutral soil: lupins dislike heavy chalk and ground that stays wet through winter. They die back in autumn and return with fresh growth each spring.
