Potentilla 'Miss Wilmott' is a hardy perennial cinquefoil, carrying cherry pink flowers with a darker raspberry centre from June until September.

The flowers are small, open and saucer shaped, held in loose airy sprays well above the leaves, so the plant looks light rather than solid in a border. The foliage is green and palmate, rather like a strawberry leaf, and forms a low clump about thirty to forty five centimetres tall and a little wider. It spreads gently enough to knit a border together and cover bare soil at the front.

Grow it in full sun or light partial shade in ordinary soil that drains. It does not want rich ground and it does not want winter wet, which is what sees these plants off rather than cold. It is happy in a pot as well as a border, and bees and butterflies use the open flowers all summer.

Deadhead through the season to keep the flowers coming, and cut the old growth back in late autumn or early spring. Supplied as three or six plants in 1L pots, ready to plant out or pot on.
