Delivery detailsA 25cm hanging basket planted up with Tomato 'Tumbling Tom Red', ready to hang and pick from through the summer.
The stems trail generously over the sides of the basket and carry heavy crops of small, sweet, bright red cherry tomatoes from July to October. This is a compact dwarf bush type, so there is no cane to put in, nothing to tie and no side shoots to pinch out. The plant stands 30 to 45cm with trailing stems to around 60cm.
Hang the basket in a warm sheltered spot in full sun, ideally with six to eight hours of direct sun a day. Baskets dry out fast in warm weather, so check the compost daily through summer, and pick regularly to keep the fruit coming. It grows just as happily in a window box or a patio container if you would rather not hang it. Plant it out only once all risk of frost has passed, because tomatoes are killed outright by the first frost and set back badly by cold nights. Water evenly rather than in bursts, since erratic watering is what causes blossom end rot and split fruit, and feed with a high-potash tomato feed once the first truss has set. Supplied as a pre-planted 25cm hanging basket, ready to hang. Tomato foliage is in the same family as potato and is a known risk to pets, so keep animals away from the plants.
