Agapanthus 'Poppin Purple' (African Lily) – Summer Flowering Perennial (2L Pot)

Agapanthus is the African lily, carrying rounded heads of trumpet flowers on tall stems above strap shaped leaves.

'Poppin Purple' flowers through mid and late summer, the heads held well clear of the foliage on straight stems. Plants reach roughly 50 to 90cm tall and 40 to 60cm across and form a neat clump that suits a sunny border, a patio pot or a gravel scheme.

Give it full sun and free draining soil, or a pot with grit worked into the compost. It flowers best when the roots are a little crowded and hates sitting wet through winter. Bees work the flowers, the stems cut well and the seed heads earn their keep after the colour has gone. It also takes salt and wind in a seaside garden. Agapanthus is harmful if eaten and the sap can irritate skin.

Supplied as a strong 2 litre pot grown plant with a well developed root system, ready to plant out or pot on.
