Cottage Pinks Dianthus Sugar Coral

Dianthus 'Sugar Coral' is a beautifully fragrant cottage pink that produces an abundance of warm coral-pink, double flowers above neat mounds of silvery blue-green foliage. Bred as part of the renowned Whetman Cottage Pinks series, this hardy perennial is cherished for its exceptional fragrance, long summer flowering season and compact, tidy habit. An outstanding choice for borders, rockeries, patio containers and path edging, where its delightful clove-like scent can be enjoyed up close.

Supplied as a 17cm root-ball, this established plant is ready to be planted straight into the garden or a container, where it will quickly settle in and reward you with months of colour and fragrance throughout the summer.

Key Features:

  • Fragrant, double coral-pink flowers throughout summer

  • Compact, mound-forming habit with attractive silvery blue-green evergreen foliage

  • Hardy perennial — comes back reliably year after year

  • Ideal for borders, rockeries, cottage gardens, containers and path edging

  • Attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinators

  • Low maintenance and drought tolerant once established

  • Prefers a sunny position in well-drained, neutral to alkaline soil

Planting and Care:

Plant in a sunny, open position in well-drained soil. Dianthus thrive in neutral to slightly alkaline conditions and dislike waterlogged ground. Space plants approximately 30–40 cm apart to allow good airflow. Deadhead spent blooms regularly to encourage further flushes of flowers throughout the season. A light trim after flowering helps maintain a compact, tidy shape. Avoid heavy, wet soils over winter.
