Hosta 'Blue Mammoth' is one of the largest hostas, grown for thick, heavily corrugated blue green leaves.
The heart shaped leaves build a bold, architectural mound up to 90cm tall and 120cm across, which makes it a genuine focal point in a shaded bed, under trees or beside water. Tall stems of pale lavender to near white bell flowers follow in summer. It holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit, and the sheer thickness of the leaf gives it useful natural resistance to slug and snail damage.
Supplied as an established plant in a 2 litre pot, ready for moist, humus rich soil or a large container. Keep it out of direct sun, which scorches blue leaved hostas and washes the colour out, and water well through the first season. A spring mulch keeps the roots cool and the weeds down.
