Weigela florida 'Victoria' – Purple Leaf Pink Flowering Shrub (2L Pot)

Weigela 'Victoria' is a compact shrub with dark bronze purple leaves and deep rose pink funnel shaped flowers in May and June.

The combination is what sells it: hot pink flower against near black foliage, with the leaves carrying the plant from spring through to autumn once the flowers have gone. There is often a lighter second flush of flower later in the summer. Bees and butterflies work the flowers throughout.

It is compact at one to one and a half metres each way, so it suits a smaller garden, a mixed border or a generous container. It is fully hardy and easy, growing in full sun or partial shade on most reasonably fertile soils that drain. Plant it in full sun for the darkest leaves and the heaviest flowering.

Prune lightly straight after flowering, taking the flowered stems back to strong buds. It flowers on last year's wood, so leave the spring pruning alone. It holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Supplied as an established plant in a 2L pot.
