Cornus sericea 'Flaviramea' (Yellow Twig Dogwood) – Yellow Winter Stems (3L Pot)

Cornus sericea 'Flaviramea' is the yellow stemmed dogwood, a shrub whose bare winter twigs glow lime yellow against frost and dark soil.

It is vigorous and unfussy, with mid green oval leaves through the growing season, clusters of small creamy white flowers in late spring and early summer, and small white berries from late summer into autumn. The leaves take on quiet autumn tints before falling to reveal the stems.

This is the dogwood for wet ground. It will grow at a pond margin, in a bog garden or in a low lying border that never really dries out, as well as in ordinary soil and clay. Give it full sun or partial shade; sun gives the cleanest stem colour. It reaches two to three metres each way and suckers gently to form a thicket.

Cut it hard back in early spring each year, because only the new wood is truly bright. It looks its best planted with a red stemmed dogwood so the two colours play off each other. Supplied as an established plant in a 3L pot.
