Dahlia 'Dahlegria Pink Flame' is a patio dahlia grown for open centred blooms, flowering from midsummer through to the first frosts.
Plants make an upright clump around 60cm tall and 40cm across, with open centred blooms that bees and butterflies can work on strong stems. The upright, compact habit suits containers, raised beds and mixed borders, and the foliage gives contrast well before the first flower opens.
Give it a sunny, sheltered spot in fertile soil that stays moist but drains freely, and water regularly through the growing season, especially in a container. Deadhead regularly to keep the flowers coming, and feed while the plant is in growth. It is not fully hardy, so lift the tubers once frost has blackened the top growth and store them somewhere cool and frost free, or mulch deeply where winters are mild. Supplied as one established plant in a 3L pot, grown in peat free compost at our Yorkshire nursery. All parts may cause severe discomfort if eaten and the sap can irritate skin.
