Geranium Calliope M Scarlet Red is a Calliope geranium, a cross between the zonal and ivy leaved types, grown for large semi double flowers and a long, reliable season.
The blooms are large and semi double in a vivid scarlet red, set against rich dark green foliage, and they carry on from late spring to the first frosts. The plant is well branched and stays neat, with rounded green leaves marked with a darker zone, and a vigorous, semi trailing to mounding habit that suits a patio container, a window box, a hanging basket or the front of a sunny border. Calliope geraniums take heat and dry spells better than the older zonal types, and they flower from late spring until the first frost.
It is supplied as a well established plant in a 5 litre root ball, ready to go straight into the garden or into your own container. Plant it in fertile, free draining soil or compost in full sun or light shade, water regularly but let the surface dry a little between waterings, and feed it through the flowering season. Deadheading keeps the buds coming. Geraniums are not hardy, so plant out after the frosts and move the plant somewhere bright and frost free before the first cold nights if you want it back next year.
