Gold Variegated ivy brings year-round colour to walls, fences, baskets and shady corners, with glossy green leaves edged in golden yellow. This is Hedera helix, also sold as English ivy or common ivy, and it is one of the easiest evergreen climbers to grow.

It is a vigorous, self-clinging plant that will climb walls, fences and trellises, or trail and spread as ground cover. It works equally well spilling from hanging baskets, containers and window boxes. The variegated foliage brightens shady spots, and the plant is fully hardy and happy in sun or shade, though the gold colouring is best kept in partial shade to partial sun. Mature plants carry small nectar-rich flowers in autumn, which are valuable to bees and other late-season pollinators, followed by black berries.
