Delivery details

Orange polyanthus bring warm, cheerful colour to the garden from late winter through spring. The Piano series is a floriferous, compact polyanthus with large, richly coloured orange blooms, each with a yellow eye, and it stands up well to wind, rain and frost.

Polyanthus (Primula x polyantha) form a tidy rosette of deep green, textured leaves, with upright stems of flowers rising above. They look striking planted in drifts or mixed with other spring colours, and they suit borders, window boxes, patio containers and bedding schemes.

You receive 12 plants, growing in 2 trays of 6 cells, one plant to a cell. They arrive well established and ready to plant out. Choose a spot in full sun or partial shade, ideally with morning sun and afternoon shade, in moist, humus-rich soil that drains freely. Water regularly so the soil stays moist but never waterlogged.

Polyanthus are low maintenance. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage more blooms, and feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every two weeks while flowering. They are fully hardy and often return the following year, and after flowering the plants can be divided and replanted. Like all primulas, they can cause stomach upset and skin irritation if eaten or handled.
