Delivery detailsPolyanthus 'Piano White' gives pure, crisp white flowers with a vivid yellow centre, in the weeks when most of the garden is still bare.
The Piano series is known for large, velvety blooms and good weather tolerance, so it keeps flowering through cold, wet spring weather. The compact, clump-forming plants carry rich green, textured, rosette-forming leaves and flower from late winter through to late spring. Early bees and butterflies visit the flowers.
You receive 12 plants, growing in 2 plastic 6-cell trays with one plant to a cell. They are ready to plant into beds, borders, containers and window boxes, and look best planted closely together for a bold seasonal display. Choose a sheltered spot with morning sun and afternoon shade, keep the soil moist without letting it become waterlogged, and feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every two weeks while growing. Deadhead spent flowers regularly to keep new ones coming. After flowering the plants can be divided and replanted to naturalise in a border.
Like all primulas, polyanthus can cause stomach upset and skin irritation if eaten or handled, so wash your hands after planting.
White flowers sit well beside spring yellows, purples and pinks.
