Delivery details

The Ficus elastica 'Belize' is a striking variety of rubber plant, grown for its large, glossy leaves that combine rich green tones with a distinctive pink-red midrib and creamy variegation.

It has an upright, architectural growth habit and keeps its leaves all year round, making it a reliable statement plant for a living room, bedroom or home office. As the plant matures the leaves broaden and the colouring becomes more pronounced, giving it real presence on a shelf or in a floor-standing pot.

It arrives as an established plant in a 1 litre (12cm) nursery pot, ready to position in bright, indirect light away from direct midday sun and cold draughts. Water moderately, letting the top of the compost dry out a little between waterings, in a well-draining potting compost.

Ficus elastica is not a plant to leave unattended for long stretches: it dislikes being moved once settled, and irregular watering, cold draughts or being too close to a radiator can cause leaf drop. Wipe the large leaves occasionally to keep them glossy and working well. The plant is toxic to cats and dogs, and the sap can irritate skin, so position it away from pets and keep it out of reach of children.
