Scindapsus pictus (Satin Pothos) – Trailing Evergreen Houseplant (12cm Pot)

The Satin Pothos (Scindapsus pictus), also sold as Silver Pothos or Silver Vine, is an easy-care trailing houseplant grown for its velvety, heart-shaped leaves splashed with silvery variegation. It belongs to the Scindapsus genus rather than the true Pothos, Epipremnum aureum, though it shares the same forgiving nature that makes it such a popular choice for beginners.

Left to its own devices it trails attractively from a shelf or hanging planter, or it can be trained up a moss pole to climb instead. The silver marbling on each leaf is unique to that plant, so no two look quite the same, and the variegation stays brightest in good light.

It arrives as an established plant in its nursery pot, ready for a bright spot out of direct sun, a windowsill, bathroom or office all suit it well. Water once the top few centimetres of compost have dried out, cutting back in winter, and it appreciates a little extra humidity from an occasional misting.

This plant is harmful if eaten and can irritate the skin and eyes, so keep trailing stems well out of reach of cats and out of reach of children.
