Hedera helix Gold Variegated is an established evergreen ivy that grows happily indoors or out, climbing, trailing or covering the ground.
Gold variegated leaves, green splashed and edged with gold, that hold their colour all year. It climbs by self-clinging roots on a wall, fence or trellis, or trails from a shelf, a balcony rail or a container; plant it in the ground and it spreads as ground cover. It grows fast, is evergreen, and makes a quick, dense privacy screen. Indoors it is as easy as houseplants get and suits a bathroom or kitchen shelf as well as a living room.
Outdoors it is fully hardy across Britain, thrives in sun or shade, and is one of the few plants that will grow in dry shade under trees; it also copes with a coastal garden and dry soil once established. It only flowers on mature, unclipped growth, and that late autumn nectar is what makes it valuable to bees, so leave a section untrimmed if you want it. It will not damage sound masonry but will get under loose render and into gutters, so keep it clipped where that matters. Harmful to dogs, cats, rabbits and rodents if eaten, and the sap can irritate skin.
Supplied as three or six established plants in 10.5cm pots, ready to plant, pot up or place indoors.
