Argyranthemum 'Madeira Yellow' is a marguerite daisy that flowers from spring until the first frost, giving pots, window boxes and borders months of colour.
The Madeira series makes a compact, upright and well-branched plant of around 30cm tall and 30 to 40cm wide, with classic daisy flowers held clear of finely cut, dark green foliage. 'Madeira Yellow' has sunshine yellow petals in several layers around a golden-yellow centre. Flowering runs from April to October, and picking off the spent heads keeps new ones coming.
Give it full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. It comes from the Canary Islands, so it copes well with dry spells and with exposed, coastal gardens. It is not hardy: the first frost kills it, so most people treat it as summer bedding and buy fresh plants each year, though a plant moved under cover before the frosts can be kept going.
