A three herb set for summer cooking: one tarragon, one mint and one oregano, all large enough to start picking.

Tarragon brings a soft aniseed note to chicken and fish, mint lifts new potatoes, salads and long cold drinks, and oregano carries the warm Mediterranean flavour that sauces and roast vegetables want. Between them they cover most of what a kitchen needs through the summer months, and all three are perennial, so they come back the following year.

Grow them in a sunny spot with free-draining soil, or keep them in pots by the kitchen door where they are easy to reach. Mint spreads hard through underground runners, so keep it in its own pot rather than letting it loose in a bed with the other two. Pick little and often to keep the plants bushy.

The set arrives as large, well-rooted plants, ready to pot on or plant out.
