Bidens 'Golden Empire' – Trailing Summer Bedding (Set of 3 or 6)

Bidens 'Golden Empire' is a trailing summer bedding plant that produces masses of small, bright yellow flowers over large green leaves.

It is a generous, easy plant for filling a container or taking the centre of a basket or window box, where its stems spread and spill over the edge and the starry yellow flowers keep coming through summer and into autumn. The nectar-rich blooms are popular with bees and butterflies, and it will also spread to cover the ground at the front of a sunny bed.

Give it full sun and a well-drained, fertile soil. Once established it copes with dry spells, though regular watering and a fortnightly liquid feed keep it flowering hard. It grows fast, needs little attention and largely cleans up after itself, so deadheading is optional. Because it grows fast it soon fills a basket or trough and mixes well with other trailing summer plants. It is not hardy: plant out after the last frost and treat it as a summer plant.
