Senetti is a florist's cineraria bred for spring bedding, covering itself in large, daisy-like flowers in a mixture of the series colours, which run from deep blue to magenta and pink while the weather is still cool.

It forms a compact, well-branched mound of broad green leaves and flowers generously from early spring into early summer, which is exactly when most pots and window boxes have nothing in them. The flowers are worked by bees on the first warm days. Grow it in full sun or partial shade, in patio containers, window boxes or at the front of a border.

Senetti is not hardy. It copes with cool spring weather and will take a light chill, but a real frost will kill it, so keep it in a sheltered spot until the worst of the winter has passed. Cutting it back after the first flush of flowers gives you a second one. Like other cineraria relatives it is treated as toxic. Supplied as large, established plants, ready to plant out.
