Petunia Easy Wave Red is a trailing bedding petunia, grown for masses of small trumpet flowers that cascade over the edge of a basket.
The habit is semi trailing to fully trailing: plants build to around 15 to 30cm in height and then spread and spill outwards, and the flowering is dense enough to cover the foliage completely. That makes this a basket and raised container plant first and a bedding plant second, though it will also fill a window box or tumble over the edge of a low wall.
Plants are supplied as large, well established 10.5cm rootballs, grown in peat free compost at a nursery in Yorkshire, so they establish quickly and flower earlier than a plug or a seed raised plant. Give them full sun and shelter from drying wind, in fertile, free draining compost. Water regularly, since a full basket dries out fast, and feed through the season to keep the flowering going. Petunias are not hardy, so plant out only once the last frosts have passed and expect the display to finish with the first cold nights of autumn.
