Primrose 'Strawberry' brings bold, cheerful colour to beds, pots and baskets through the cooler months when little else is in flower.
These are neat rosettes of lush green leaves, 15 to 25cm tall and wide, topped with clusters of velvety blooms in a rich strawberry shade from late winter into spring. Often in bud or bloom on arrival, they give instant impact in beds, borders, patio pots, containers and hanging baskets, and make a fine low ground cover or underplanting for shrubs. They are also a welcome early nectar source for bees and butterflies.
Primroses thrive in sun or light shade and enjoy moist, well-drained soil; they will only take full sun where the soil stays moist. They are fully hardy across Britain and true perennials, so although they are usually bought for one season of spring colour they will come back year after year if left in the ground. Long flowering and low maintenance, they need little beyond removing faded blooms. Primulas can cause stomach upset and skin irritation.
Supplied as well-rooted plants in 10.5cm pots, grown peat-free at our Yorkshire nursery and ready to plant straight away.
