A bedding verbena that spreads and trails, carrying tight heads of true blue flowers from late spring right through to the autumn frosts.
Lanai Up True Blue makes a low, well branched plant around 20 to 30cm tall with stems that run out to 30 to 60cm, so it fills the front of a basket, a window box or a patio pot and will run along the edge of a border as summer ground cover. The flowers come in dense clusters over dark, serrated leaves, and keep coming as long as you take the spent heads off.
Plant it out once the risk of frost has passed, in full sun and free draining compost. Pinch the tips out early for a bushier plant, and give it room and air, because a crowded basket is where mildew starts. Each plant is supplied as an established 10.5cm root ball, grown peat free at our Yorkshire nursery. It is not hardy and is treated as a plant for one summer.
