Delivery detailsSaxifrage 'Dancing Pixies Thea' is a charming, compact evergreen perennial, loved for its delicate pink and white flowers and its ability to thrive in shaded spots where many other plants struggle. It is a woodland saxifrage (Saxifraga), not a mossy alpine type, and it flowers from late summer through autumn.
It forms a low clump of rounded, scalloped evergreen leaves that works well as ground cover, gently filling gaps at the front of a border or beneath shrubs. It suits shady borders, woodland gardens, rock gardens and damp shade, and it is equally at home in a container or patio pot.
It arrives established in a 1.5 litre pot, ready to plant straight into the garden or a container. Give it partial to full shade in moist, well drained, humus rich soil, and keep it out of hot sun and cold wind. It is hardy in most of Britain but prefers a sheltered spot, and an early hard frost can spoil the late flowers. Little upkeep is needed beyond keeping the soil from drying out. In pots, watch for slugs and vine weevil.
