Calceolaria 'Calynopsis Red Orange Bicolour' is a compact slipper flower with inflated, pouch-shaped red and orange bicolour blooms, bred for cool-season pots and sheltered outdoor spaces.
The Calynopsis series is a modern hybrid slipper flower selected for outdoor use, not the short-lived florist's pot plant. The flowers are puffed, orchid-like pouches in red and orange bicolour, unusual enough to stand out in any container. Plants form neat, bushy mounds around 20 to 30cm tall and wide, with dark green, textured leaves, and they stay uniform from plant to plant.
It suits small pots, window boxes, mixed containers, balconies and patios, and can also be grown in a conservatory or a bright, sheltered spot. It flowers best in cool, moist conditions, so give it partial shade or bright indirect light rather than baking sun, and keep the compost moist and well drained with regular watering. It is not hardy: grow it as a cool-season plant outdoors or keep it somewhere frost free over winter. Flowering runs from autumn to early spring in mild conditions. Light deadheading and an occasional feed keep it going.
Supplied as three or six well-established plants in 1 litre pots, ready to pot on or plant into containers.
