Phlox paniculata 'Fabulous Rose' is a border phlox, carrying domed heads of rose pink flowers right through high summer.
It makes a compact bushy clump 40 to 50cm tall and 30 to 40cm wide, with lance shaped mid green leaves and flower heads from July into September. The flowers are sweetly scented, which is the reason many gardeners grow border phlox at all. The Fabulous series was bred for a neat habit and better resistance to mildew, which is the one thing that spoils border phlox in a dry summer.
Give it sun or a little shade, fertile soil that holds moisture through summer, and room for air to move around the plant. It is happy in a border or a decent sized patio container as long as it is not left to dry out. Plants arrive established in 1 litre pots. Cut the stems to the ground in late autumn once the foliage has died back.
