Gazania 'Kiss Yellow Improved' is a low mounding treasure flower, covered in big daisy flowers from late spring to the first frosts.

The blooms sit just above neat mounds of deep green, glossy leaves and open wide in bright sun, closing again in dull weather, so this is a plant that genuinely needs a sunny spot rather than one that merely tolerates it. It reaches around 20 to 30cm tall and 25 to 35cm across, which suits bedding borders, patio pots, window boxes and baskets. Once settled it copes with dry soil and with salt laden coastal wind.

Gazania is not hardy, though it can scrape through winter outdoors in the mildest, driest coastal spots, so treat it as summer colour and plant it out after the frosts. Reports conflict on whether gazania is harmful to cats and dogs, and at least one species is listed as mildly toxic. Each plant arrives fully rooted in a 1L peat free pot, grown and hardened off at our Yorkshire nursery, often already in bud or bloom.
