Tomato 'Consuelo' – Cordon Cherry Tomato (3 or 6 x 1L Pots)

Tomato 'Consuelo' is a heavy cropping cherry variety grown as a cordon, prized for sweet, richly flavoured fruit.

Grown up a cane or a string it reaches 150 to 200cm, carrying generous clusters of small, elongated fruit with a dark red brown skin and a sweet, rich, aromatic taste. They are good picked straight from the vine, tossed into a salad or roasted for a deeper flavour. Regular side shooting and feeding keep the harvest coming from midsummer right through to autumn, under glass, in a polytunnel or in a warm, sheltered spot outdoors.

Plants are grown in peat free compost in Yorkshire and arrive with well established rootballs, ready to go into their final pot or bed once all risk of frost has passed. Water evenly rather than in fits and starts, since erratic watering causes blossom end rot and split fruit, and begin a high potassium feed once the first fruits start to swell. The fruit is for eating, but the leaves and stems belong to the same family as potato and are a known risk to pets.
