Bidens 'Taka Tuka Red Yellow Brush' is a free-flowering trailing bidens whose bicoloured red and golden-yellow flowers with a brush-stroke pattern keep coming from late spring until the first frosts.
The Taka Tuka series is well branched and vigorous, with fine, feathery, mid-green foliage that sets off a mass of small daisy-like flowers. This form carries bicoloured red and golden-yellow flowers with a brush-stroke pattern. The nectar-rich flowers are a magnet for bees, butterflies and other pollinators all summer.
Plants reach around 25 to 35cm tall and spread 35 to 50cm, spilling over the edge of hanging baskets, window boxes and patio pots, or spreading as ground cover at the front of a sunny bed. Give it full sun and a well-drained, fertile soil. Once established it copes with dry spells, though regular watering and a fortnightly liquid feed keep it flowering hard. It grows fast, needs little attention and largely cleans up after itself, so deadheading is optional. It is half hardy: plant out after the last frost and treat it as a summer plant.
