Petunia 'Shortcake Blueberry' – Compact Purple Bedding (21cm Pot)

Petunia 'Shortcake Blueberry' is a compact, mounding petunia smothered in velvety, deep blueberry-purple flowers from late spring to autumn.

Part of the Shortcake series, it is bred for a neat, mounding, semi-trailing habit of 20 to 30cm tall and 30 to 45cm across, with masses of rich purple-blue blooms over mid-green, slightly sticky leaves. Exceptionally free flowering and tolerant of poor weather, it performs well in containers, hanging baskets, patio pots, window boxes and along border edges, and bees and butterflies visit the flowers.

Give it full sun in a sheltered spot out of drying wind, in fertile, well-drained compost. Keep the compost moist but not waterlogged, feed weekly with a high-potash liquid fertiliser once it is flowering, and deadhead regularly to keep the blooms coming. It is not hardy: plant out only once the last frosts have passed and expect it to finish with the first cold nights of autumn.
