Aster 'Alpha White' is a compact Michaelmas daisy, smothered in white daisies with golden centres.
It flowers from late summer into early autumn on a bushy clump around 30 to 40cm tall and wide, neat enough for the front of a border, a patio pot or a window box. Unlike the taller Michaelmas daisies it needs no staking and rarely suffers mildew.
Plant in sun or light shade in soil that does not bake dry in summer, which is what keeps mildew away. It is fully hardy, comes back every year and takes wind and salt in a seaside garden. Bees and butterflies work it at a thin time of year, the stems cut well and deer and rabbits usually leave it alone. Divide the clump every few years to keep it vigorous.
Supplied as a well established 2 litre pot grown plant, ready to plant straight out.
