Jasminum x stephanense is a hardy twining jasmine with softly scented pale pink flowers through summer.

It is the pink-flowered cousin of common jasmine and behaves much like it: a vigorous twining climber to 4 to 8 metres when supported, with mid-green semi-evergreen foliage and clusters of small starry flowers, here in pale pink, from early summer into early autumn. The scent is lighter than common jasmine but carries on a warm evening, and bees visit the flowers.

Plant it in full sun against a warm, sheltered wall, fence, pergola or arch in well-drained soil. Water in prolonged dry spells and prune lightly after flowering to shape it and keep it in check. Hardy across Britain; do not confuse it with the pink-budded jasmine sold indoors in winter, which is a tender houseplant. Plants may be in bud, flower or leaf depending on the season.

Supplied as one large, well-established plant in a 2 litre pot, ready for planting.
