A spring bedding plant that covers itself in lavender-purple daisy flowers while the weather is still cool.

Senetti is a Pericallis bred by Suntory for early colour, and it flowers hard from early spring into summer, long before most bedding has got going. The plants are compact and bushy, so they fill a container or the front of a bed quickly and hold the display for weeks. Cutting the plant back after the first flush usually brings a second one.

Plant it in a sheltered spot in full sun or partial shade, in moist but well-drained soil or a good multipurpose compost. Keep it watered without letting it sit wet, deadhead the flowers as they go over and feed it every couple of weeks while it is in bloom. It is not hardy. It copes with cool spring weather and will take a light chill, but a real frost will kill it, so keep it under cover until the frosts have passed or grow it in a pot you can move. Cineraria relatives are treated as toxic, so keep it away from anyone likely to chew it.

Supplied as an established plant in a 2 litre pot, ready to plant out or pot on.
