Gardeners Delight is a classic and much-loved cherry tomato variety, widely regarded as one of the finest cherry tomatoes available. This indeterminate cordon tomato is one of the easiest varieties to grow, making it a wonderful choice for beginners and experienced gardeners alike. Supplied as an established, garden-ready plant with a well-developed 2 litre root ball, it is ready to plant out and start producing an abundance of sweet, flavourful cherry tomatoes.
This prolific variety produces trusses of small, bright red cherry tomatoes from July through to October, each one bursting with a rich, sweet flavour that is perfect for salads, snacking, lunchboxes, and cooking. Gardeners Delight is renowned for its reliability, disease resistance, and generous harvests, making it a staple of kitchen gardens, allotments, and container growing spaces across the UK.
Growing Conditions
This established tomato plant thrives in a warm, sunny, and sheltered position. It is suitable for growing both outdoors and in a greenhouse, and performs brilliantly on patios, in containers, raised beds, hanging baskets, and balcony settings. Plant out after the last frost from late spring through summer. Space cordon plants approximately 45cm apart and provide sturdy cane or stake support, as this vigorous plant can reach up to 1.8m in height.
Water regularly and feed weekly with a high-potash fertiliser once the first truss has set. Pinch out side shoots regularly to encourage strong upward growth and maximise your harvest. This variety is well suited to pots, containers, grow bags, and raised beds.
