Tomato 'Gardeners Delight' – Cordon Cherry Tomato (2L Pot)

Tomato 'Gardeners Delight' is the classic cherry tomato, sweet, reliable and one of the easiest varieties to grow well.

It carries trusses of small, bright red fruit from July through to October, each one full of the rich sweet flavour that has kept this variety in gardens for decades. Good in a salad, good in a lunchbox and good straight from the plant.

It is an indeterminate cordon reaching up to 1.8m, so give it a sturdy cane or stake, pinch out the side shoots and space plants about 45cm apart. Grow it in full sun in a warm sheltered spot, in the ground, a raised bed, a grow bag, a large patio container or a greenhouse. Plant it out only once all risk of frost has passed, because tomatoes are killed outright by the first frost and set back badly by cold nights. Water evenly rather than in bursts, since erratic watering is what causes blossom end rot and split fruit, and feed with a high-potash tomato feed once the first truss has set. Supplied as one established plant in a 2 litre root ball. Tomato foliage is in the same family as potato and is a known risk to pets, so keep animals away from the plants.
