Tomato 'Tumbling Tom Yellow' – Trailing Cherry Tomato (2L Pot)

Tomato 'Tumbling Tom Yellow' is a trailing cherry tomato for hanging baskets, window boxes and patio containers.

The stems cascade over the rim of a basket and carry an abundance of small, sweet, bright yellow cherry tomatoes through summer and into early autumn. The plant stays at 20 to 30cm with a trailing spread of 30 to 60cm, so it fills a basket without swamping it.

It is a determinate variety, which means no staking, no tying in and no pinching out of side shoots. Give it full sun with at least six hours of direct sun a day, use a good peat-free compost in a container with proper drainage, and keep the compost evenly moist because baskets dry out fast in warm weather. Plant it out only once all risk of frost has passed, because tomatoes are killed outright by the first frost and set back badly by cold nights. Water evenly rather than in bursts, since erratic watering is what causes blossom end rot and split fruit, and feed with a high-potash tomato feed once the first truss has set. Supplied as one established plant in a 2 litre root ball. Tomato foliage is in the same family as potato and is a known risk to pets, so keep animals away from the plants.
