Delivery detailsPurple cyclamen bring rich colour to a porch, patio or doorstep through autumn and winter. This ready planted floral tin trough holds three Cyclamen persicum, the florist's cyclamen, with wooden handles and a moss top dressing for a finished, gift-ready look.
The compact, mounding plants carry upswept flowers in purple and pink above deep green, heart-shaped leaves marbled with silver. They flower for months, from autumn through winter and into early spring, when little else in the garden is in bloom.
The three plants arrive growing together in the trough, so there is no potting to do. Stand it in a sheltered spot in partial shade, out of cold wind, such as a porch, a patio or beside the front door. The handles make it easy to carry to wherever you want the colour.
Water at the edge of the trough rather than into the crown of the plants, and keep them on the dry side. Pull off spent flowers with their stalks to keep new buds coming. These are not hardy plants. They will take a light frost in a sheltered position, but a hard or prolonged frost will kill them, so treat them as one season of colour. The tubers should not be eaten, by people or pets.
