Schefflera Arboricola Green – Umbrella Plant

The Schefflera Arboricola Green, commonly known as the Umbrella Plant, is one of the most popular and recognisable houseplants available. Its glossy, palmate leaves fan out in elegant umbrella-like clusters, creating a lush, tropical display that suits any living room, bedroom, office, or hallway.

This easy-care evergreen houseplant is well suited to a range of indoor conditions. It thrives in bright, indirect light but will happily tolerate lower light levels, making it a versatile choice for most rooms. A forgiving plant by nature, it is an excellent option for beginners and experienced plant owners alike.

Over time, the Schefflera Arboricola develops into a bushy, upright plant or small indoor tree. Regular pruning helps maintain a compact shape, while occasional misting supports healthy foliage in drier environments. It is also widely recognised as an air-purifying houseplant, helping to filter common indoor toxins.

Supplied as a well-established plant grown in a 3 litre root ball, ready to be potted on or displayed as received.

Care Guide

    \n
  • Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Tolerates partial shade. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which may scorch the foliage.
  • Watering: Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce frequency during the cooler winter months.
  • Soil: Use a well-draining, peat-free houseplant compost. A mix of houseplant compost and perlite works well to improve drainage.
  • Repotting: Best carried out in spring when roots begin to fill the current container. Move up one pot size at a time.
  • Humidity: Appreciates occasional misting or placement near other plants to boost ambient humidity.
  • Feeding: Apply a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser every two to four weeks during the growing season (spring to early autumn).
