Oriental lilies from the 'Romance' series are the scented kind, grown for size of flower and depth of perfume.

The 'Romance' series carries large trumpet flowers with a rich, sweet scent that carries across a patio on a still evening, and each 1 litre pot holds three lilies so the display is full from the first year. Stems reach around 60 to 90cm with a spread of 30 to 40cm, upright and strong enough to stand without support, and they are as good in a vase as in the border.

Supplied as established plants in 13cm, 1 litre pots, grown in Yorkshire and ready to plant out or to pot on. Give them sun or light shade and free draining soil or compost, water while they are in growth and let the stems die back naturally at the end of the season. Lilies are toxic to cats. Every part of the plant, including the pollen and the water in a vase, can cause fatal kidney failure, so they should not be grown or cut for a household with a cat.
