Tomato 'Cornabel' – Grafted Cordon Tomato (3 or 6 x 1L Pots)

Tomato 'Cornabel' is a grafted cordon variety carrying long, horn shaped fruit with a sweet, intense flavour and very few seeds.

This F1 hybrid is grown on a vigorous rootstock, which gives the plant better disease resistance and stronger growth than it would have on its own roots. Trained up a single stem it reaches 150 to 200cm and spreads 40 to 60cm, so it needs a sturdy cane or framework and regular side shooting. The fruits are 15 to 20cm long and elongated, of the Corne des Andes sort, and are at their best in salads, roasted, in sauces or dried. Plant out with the graft union kept above soil level.

Plants are grown in peat free compost at our Yorkshire nursery and arrive with well established rootballs, ready to go into their final pot or bed once all risk of frost has passed. Water evenly rather than in fits and starts, since erratic watering causes blossom end rot and split fruit, and begin a high potassium feed once the first fruits start to swell. The fruit is for eating, but the leaves and stems belong to the same family as potato and are a known risk to pets.
