Tomato 'Honeycomb' – Golden Cherry Tomato (Set of 3 or 6)

Tomato 'Honeycomb' is a cherry tomato grown for its exceptionally sweet, golden-amber fruit through summer and into early autumn.

The trusses are long and generous, and the small round fruits ripen to a warm gold with a rich honeyed flavour. They are good eaten straight from the plant, scattered through a salad, or roasted until they caramelise.

Honeycomb is an indeterminate cordon and reaches 150 to 180cm, so give it a cane or a string to climb, pinch out the side shoots regularly, and pick often to keep the trusses coming. It wants full sun and shelter, whether that is a greenhouse, a polytunnel, a grow bag or a large container in a sunny corner. Plant it out only once all risk of frost has passed, because tomatoes are killed outright by the first frost and set back badly by cold nights. Water evenly rather than in bursts, since erratic watering is what causes blossom end rot and split fruit, and feed with a high-potash tomato feed once the first truss has set. Supplied as three or six established plants in 1 litre root balls. Tomato foliage is in the same family as potato and is a known risk to pets, so keep animals away from the plants.
