This tomato plant collection brings together some of the most popular and reliable tomato varieties, so you can grow a mix of flavours, colours and fruit types in one summer. You get 12 plants, each in its own 9cm pot, supplied as healthy young plants ready to pot on or plant out.

Whether you are a first-time grower or a seasoned kitchen gardener, the varieties are chosen to complement one another and give a varied harvest from a single purchase. Tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) crop from mid-summer into early autumn, and they grow well in a greenhouse, a grow bag, a large pot on a sunny patio or a raised bed.

Tomatoes are not hardy and the first frost will kill them, so keep them somewhere warm and only move them outside once all risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny spot sheltered from cold winds. Under glass or in a warm, sunny place outdoors gives the best results.

Growing tips:
Pot on into larger containers, or plant into a greenhouse border, grow bag or raised bed once the risk of frost has passed.
Feed regularly with a high-potash liquid feed once the first flowers appear.
Pinch out side shoots on cordon (indeterminate) varieties to encourage strong, productive growth. Bush varieties do not need this.
Water consistently to help prevent blossom end rot and fruit splitting.
Support plants with canes or stakes as they develop.
