Do ferns need shade?
Most ferns prefer shade or partial shade and a soil that does not dry out, which makes them perfect for the corners where flowering plants struggle. A few tolerate more sun if kept moist.
When should I plant ferns and grasses?
Spring and autumn are the best times, though container-grown plants can go in through most of the year with regular watering. Each product page has a planting calendar.
Do you cut back ornamental grasses?
Deciduous grasses are cut back in late winter before new growth starts. Evergreen grasses just need a comb through to remove dead blades.
